Here is my fanfic. It takes place a few years after GDW. About two or three. It will be about the offspring and other descendants of some characters from GDW, and maybe GNG too, among other new characters. The prologue is mainly about my fan/roleplay characters. Their past. But it focuses more on other characters, too. Like Weed's pups.
Some names are nonsense words I made up, others are actually Japanese.
Pronunciation guide:
Secetta: Se(like “set”)-ket(like “kettle”)-ah(self explanatory, I believe)
Kagayaku: Ka(as in “cup”)-guy-ya-ku(as in “raccoon”)
Tachiagaru- Taw-chi-eye-gah-roo
Kagi(short for Kagayaku): Kaw-gee
Tachi(short for Tachiagaru): Taw-chi
Seki-Se(like “set”)-key
Segare: (I don’t know how it’s pronounced, here was my best guess, it’s Japanese for “son”) Se(as in “set”)-gare-e
Sotsu: (Japanese for son)Soat-sue( I’m guessing, that’s how I pronounced it)
Prologue
“ Ohu! Ohu! Ohu! That’s all I ever hear! Smith-san this, and Smith-san that! I’m fed up with it all, sick, and tired!” Came a shrieking, ear-splitting female cry.
“ Come, now, Secetta, calm down. Ohu is-“
There it is again! Ohu this, and Ohu that!”
“ But we live at-“
“ I don’t care anymore! I’m sick of it all! ‘ We most obey Weed, his word is law’ and ‘Tora-ge akitas’ this, and ‘Tora-ge akitas’ that! I can’t take it anymore! I’m taking the pups and leaving!”
“ Come, now, calm yourself down-“
“ No! I won’t! I’m going, and that’s finale!”
And out of the shadows came a spaniel/setter mix, carrying a crying pup, followed by two other waddling young ones.
Some days later
“ Kagi….oh, Kagi, what have I done?” Secetta asked herself, as the pups were sound alsleep curled up by her.
Just then, a snarling sound was heard.
“ Who’s there?” she demanded quietly.
“ Female! Trespasser!” called a menacing voice.
“ I did no such thing!”
“ Foolish female, you will be punished!”
“ No! Please! I mean you no harm!”
“ Ha! No harm?! It matters not. I have better things to do than argue with insolent females…attack!”
Secetta jumped to her feet, waking the pups.
“ Mother, what is it?” One of them called. He was a tiny brown and white pup, with a brown back and markings of his face, some brown spots, and one brown front paw(right front). He was called Seki
“ We have to get out of here-quick! We’re being attacked!” she replied frantically.
Suddenly, all the pups, now fully alert, got their little butts in gear and followed their mother as she attempted to lead them to safety.
A large dog, some sort of Spitz type canine, attacked Secetta. The pups looked up at their bleeding mother, horrified.
“ Run! You stupid mutts! Get out of here!” she screamed in anger as she attempted to keep the attention of the attacking dogs, and defend herself at the same time. It wasn’t easy, and Secetta wasn’t exactly soldier material. But she was quick, and tried to dodge rather than counter-attack, mostly.
Meanwhile, the pups scrambled away out of shear fear, as a few of the attacking dogs who weren’t preoccupied with their mother pursued them.
But was hard for them to reach the pups, as smaller targets are harder to hit. Although the pups were small and fragile, their size was an advantage in this battle.
But they did get hit. A large Shepard grabbed hold of Kagayaku, one of the pups, who was white with Reddish/Brownish markings(like a liver color). face has more white than the liverish color her markings are, a bit more like Smith's than her brother's. Has a marking on her forehead sort of like a Strip on a horse( strip's are like blazes but thinner). The hair on her ears is a bit wavy, and they have patches and spots of Liverish color on them. Some of her back is is Liverish, with some Liverish spots near the main markings. . But she quickly spun around and bit his nose. He dropped her in pain, but as he recovered from the initial pain, he made a blind attempt to grab her again, barely getting her by the bottom jaw. But because he almost missed, his jaws did not hit her with enough force to damage any bones, although there was a deep gash. But, since he didn’t have a very tight hold, Kagayaku slipped and feel onto the ground.
“ Kagi!” Tachiagaru, her brother, who looked somewhat like Smith, though there are noticable differences. His fur is white with black/very dark brown markings( look black at first glance, but if you look carefully, you can tell it's brown, some markings are black, some are this color). The fur on his ears is not as wavy as that of his Grandsire. Alot of his face is a brownish blackish color, his lower jaw and part of his upper jaw are white, along with a marking simaliar to a blaze on a horse. He has a scar on his left flank. His legs are mostly white, but blackish/brownish at the base(hip/shoulder area), have black/brownish markings along back, most of back is that color, as is the top side of his tail(underside is white) called as he dodged the oncoming snout of a large bull-type dog.
“ Yes…I’m fine….hurry!” she called to him.
Seki, meanwhile, was bravely fighting another dog. He goaded them to attack him, then he’d swiftly dodge and bite at their swiping paw or snouts that held gaping jaws.
“ Seki, stop fooling around, and come!” Tachiagaru commanded.
Seki ignored him and went on.
“ Please! I beg of you!” Kagayaku pleaded.
Still no response.
“ Stop being a fool! Don’t try and be a hero, you’ll get yourself killed!” Tachiagaru called.
“ I’ll be fine! Just go! I’ll catch up with you later, I promise! I promise you I won’t die!”
“ But,,,,al-aliright. I trust you, brother,” Tachiagaru said, turning his back, as they ran off.
After awhile, the two hear few snarls, and saw no flashes of on-coming attackers. They finally worked up the courage to stop, and look behind them. They saw a mass of dogs, but no sign of their mother or brother.
“ We have to go back!” Kagayaku cried.
“ No. I’m going alone. You stay here…you’re…you’re..” Tachiagaru began.
“ What? What am I?” she said, in a bit of an injured tone of voice.
“ A..female. I don’t want you to get hurt..you’re…you can’t go. I won’t watch my sister die.”
“ I guess you have a point there…but..I want to help..” she half-protested.
“ You can. Keep an eye on things from here. You’re our look-out. Our scout. It’ an important job.”
“ Fine. I’ll keep watch..”
a small, pained smile spread across the young dogs face as he turned and scampered away.
He leapt into the scrambling mess of canines. Pandemonium. They couldn’t be fighting only two dogs. Why was this such a mess?
Then, he noticed dogs fighting each other. It seemed this had evolved into a larger fight, and enemies of the dogs who attacked them had joined in the fight.
Good, he thought, those evil dogs deserve it, for what they did. Poor Kagi was woken from her nap.
He finally caught a glimpse of Seki. He was using his clever technique on a brown mixed breed dog, who seemed very frustrated with his tiny opponent.
But, too quick for Tachiagaru to warn Seki, a dog ran up from behind and grabbed Seki by the scruff of the neck. Seki struggled wildly for a second, but then the dog smiled evilly and dug his fangs deeper into Seki’s flesh, and the crunch of bones was heard. Tachiagaru was struck with a look of horror as watched Seki’s tiny body shudder and go limp, as the dog let him fall to the ground. Tachiagaru wanted to bound over to his brother’s side, but he couldn’t. He had to press on, and check his mother. Something deep down inside him pushed him toward her.
He ran on, ignoring the searing pain in his tired legs. He finally came across his mother, she was backed up against a tree, surrounded by starling dogs about to pounce.
“ MOTHER!” Tachiagaru called.
“ Tachi?” she called, as she swore under her breath,” I told you to flee! You disobedient kid!”
“ I’m sorry..but..we were..worried about you!”
“ I’ll be fine! Just go!”
“ No, mother, I came to-“
“ Fine, then I’ll make you get out of harm’s way!” She cried as she leapt over the surrounding dogs, grabbed Tachiagaru by the scruff of the neck and ran for it.
Bodies lay scattered, covered in immense amounts of blood and gore, all over the ground.” Tachi, close your eyes,” Secetta commanded sternly.
“ But-“
“ Just close them!” she barked, not wanting him to see the carnage, nor Seki, whom she noticed as she ran.
AS she ran past a large tree, no longer being followed, she heard a small voice say:
“ I’m over here, mother.”
It was Kagayaku.
“ Kagi!” she called, with a sigh of relief,” you can open your eyes now, Tachi. But don’t look back.”
“ Mother! You’re alright!” Kagayaku cried with delight.
“ Yes, little one, I am fine,” she replied, rather tired.
“ Mother, you’re bleeding!” she called, horrified.
“ I will be fine,” she assured her, as she licked Tachiagaru’s flank, which had been injured, but had gone unnoticed during the battle.
As the group licked there wounds, dogs from both sides began to scatter, and soon had fled the area.
Seki..” Kagayaku muttered.
“ What was that?” Secetta muttered.
“ Seki..” she said, this time louder, as she blindly ran towards the battle ground. She didn’t seem to see the bodies, or if she did, she didn’t know any signs of her noticing. She soon came upon a tiny body, with a large wound in the back of the neck, covered in still wet and dried blood. The bite had probably punctured the windpipe.
“ Seki..” she muttered, as she buried her face in his cold side, crying,” Why? Why did it have to be you? Why did you have to go?”
As she sat with her brother, her mother and brother, who had already seen it on the battle field, crept up. Secetta hadn’t taken a very good look at the body, and tears filed her eyes as she stared down at her son. Tachiagaru was silent. He didn’t cry. He didn’t whimper. He didn’t do anything. He just sat there in a trance-like state, staring blankly at the body.
“ Seki…you promised..YOU PROMISED!” she wailed,” YOU PROIMSED US! PROMISED US ALL! YOU PROMISED YOU WEREN’T GOING TO DIE!” she called out, and she wasn’t sure which emotion was more powerful. Her anger, or her sorrow. Then, in hoarse whisper, she muttered,” But you did. And now I will make a promise. I will grow. Get strong. I will fight. I will try to avenge your death. I promise this, over your body. And, with your spirit as my witness, I will beomce a fighter.”
She stood up, and slowly backed away. Hot tears rolled down her eyes as she sat there, letting her brother and mother examine the corpse,
“ Seki…why? You were…such a fighter,” Tachiagaru finally muttered, his uninjured flank brushing lightly against Seki’s soft, white chest. He wouldn’t cry, he told himself. He wouldn’t cry. He wouldn’t allow himself to. But he did anyway. He didn’t care. He forgot about dignity. No, not forgot. He abandoned in. Let it flow away with the tears that rolled down his face as he let out his sorrow.
And then, there was the mother. She tried so hard to protect them. Her pups. But she failed them. She failed. Those words rung through her mind, but she seemed not to hear as she wept.
They all backed away, forming a line of weeping dogs. Kagayaku threw back her head, as she tried to hold back the tears, and let out a long, mournful howl. Tachiagaru and Secetta joined in.
“ We’ll find a place to thrive!” secetta called, as she lowered her muzzle,” We’ll live on, for the sake of the short life of Seki! For the sake of the lives of you two!”
“ Mother..” Kagayaku began.
“ But..no. That is not what we must do. I can’t take it any longer. I must get back to Segare. He must know. He must hear of his son’s death. It was all his fault! If that insolent mutt hadn’t pushed me away, if-no, I am being foolish. I am to blame. I was the one who took you here. I decided to leave on my own. I killed Seki. It is decided. We’re heading for Ohu.”
And with that, she stood up, and walked off, beckoning for the pups to follow.
